Panchkarma

Panchakarma is the ultimate Ayurvedic detoxification of body and mind. It also strengthens the immune system to restore health and well-being. It is a compendium of therapies that are high individualized based on the Ayurvedic constitution type (Prakruti), imbalance digestive fire, age, immune status, heal conditions & many
other factors.

The five detoxifying procedures together are known as panchakarma. Ayursoukhyam conducts all the five detoxifying procedures according to the classic text.

Vaman helps eliminate aggrevated kapha physiologically which accumulates in the body so that diseases can be prevented and health is maintained.

  • It means expelling aggravated doshas (toxins) through oral route.
  • Before Inducing Vamana aggrevated doshas are brought to koshta through snehana and svedana.
  • Vamana proceedure is effective in treating bronchil asthama, chronic cough, sinusitis, psoriasis, urticaria, digestion related disease & skin related conditions.

Virechan helps eliminate aggravated pitta dosha physiologically accumulated in the body so that diseases can be prevented and health is maintained.

  • This therapy can be conducted as an individual detoxification therapy or as a follow-up therapy after Vamana to ensure complete detoxification.
  • Virechan expels the vitiated doshas and toxins through purgation
  • Effective in skin disorder/ psoriasis, eczema, urticaria lumbar spondylosis, obesity, gastritis, cough, digestion related diseases etc.

Basti helps eliminate the aggregated vata dosha physiologically accumulated in the body, so that disease can be treated and prevented. Health is restored.

  • Basti procedure is very effective in different types of joint disorder cure rheumatoid arthritis, ostea arthritis, gouty arthritis, lumbar spondylosis, sciatica, obesity, irritable bowel syndrome, longstanding constipation, loss of strength, and so on.
  • Basti karma expels body toxins and vitiated doshas by introducing medicated liquid or oils ghee through anal route.

The nose is the door to consciousness and the pathway to our inner healing system.

  • Medications that are administered through the nasal passages affect the mind, prana vata, tarpaka kapha, sadhoka pitta, and majja dhatu.
  • For nasya oil, ghee, dry medicated powder is used.
  • Nasya procedure is very effective in different types of head, neck, and jaw stiffness, and pain, migraine, hairfall, Bell's Palsy (facial paralysis spondylosis etc).

Raktamoksham means blood letting sushruta is said to have mentioned this procedure in sushruta samhita.

  • Raktamoksham is the fifth main Panchakarma.
  • Toxin built up in the bloodstream is a major cause of any disease and this method involves extraction of vitiated blood from the human body.
  • Types of Raktamoksham are prachana, sirovedha, Anushastra - Jalauka (leech therapy), shrunga (countstion) alabu (using pitcher gourd)

Rheumatoid arthritis

RA, or Amavata is a chronic inflammatory joint disease. Amavata is a kapha vataja vyadhi affecting all joints. It is caused by the degeneration of agni, which results in the production of ama (toxins), and this ama gets circulated all over the body by means of vitiated vata and gets dislodged in kapha sthana (amasaya, sandhi, etc.), starting with pain, swelling, and stiffness of small and big joints. Prolonged arthritic conditions can even cause deformity of joints.

Ayurveda has certain effective ways to cure this condition. The first step is normalising the impaired agni by using langhana (alpabhojana), deepana, and pachana dravyas, and later detoxification is done with ayurvedic panchakarma procedures like vasti and virechana, which eliminate amatva from the body. External therapies like Dhanyamladhara, valukaswedam, and Choornapinda Swedam are highly effective in treating this condition. Yoga, Pathyaaharavihara, and ayurvedic therapies can help improve quality of life and restrict the progression of disease.

Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disorder that mainly affects the weight bearing joints. The most common sites to get affected are the knees, hips, and hands. Ayurveda considers it Sandhigatavata. Intake of ruksha, sushkaahara, alpabhojan, ativyayama, abhighata, and sthoulya can cause vata vridhi, which results in sandhigata vata. If this condition is left untreated, it can progress to an advanced stage, which causes wear and tear on joints.

The acute stage of OA is easily manageable with Ayurvedic therapies. In the chronic stage, periodic check-up’s and specific therapies are indicated, which help prevent further progression of the disease. Abhyangam, upanaham, vasti, and various types of potali treatments are some of the authentic ayurvedic therapies.
